Plans & limits

This page explains how usage is calculated and what happens when you reach a plan limit.

A string is one translation value in one language.

Example:

  • 1 key (COMMON.SAVE)
  • 3 languages (en, fr, de)

That’s 3 strings total (1 key × 3 languages).

Usage is based on the total number of translation values stored for your project(s).

Typically, these count:

  • A key with a value in a language (e.g. en = "Save")
  • The same key translated into multiple languages (each language counts as another string)

In general, the following should not increase your string usage:

  • Key history / previous versions of values
  • Metadata such as notes, tags, or descriptions

If you’re unsure whether a specific edge case is counted in your workspace, check the usage view in the app.

What happens when you hit your plan limit?

Section titled “What happens when you hit your plan limit?”

When you reach or exceed your plan limits, Translatable may restrict actions that increase usage, such as:

  • Creating new keys
  • Adding new languages
  • Importing additional files
  • Saving new translation values

You’ll still be able to:

  • View existing translations
  • Export existing data
  • Upgrade your plan to continue adding strings
  • You can cancel any time. Your plan remains active until the end of the billing period.
  • For refunds, contact support and include your workspace name and billing email.
